Stories from Black Dog Ranch - Mia and the Gang

Hi everyone. It's me Mia.
Well it has been another great week here at the ranch and we are all doing just fine.
Ms. Charlene has been spending the morning cleaning out Willa's doghouse. Ms. Charlene says Willa is a "Chew Bone Collector"!!!
Ms. Charlene gives us lots of knotted chew bones and chew chips to keep our teeth clean and mostly to keep us busy so we don't dig up her mulch. Well Willa collects all the chew bones out of our bone bowl and puts them in her doghouse. Ms. Charlene says Willa doesn't want to be selfish, but she just can't help herself. It probably has something to do with Willa's puppyhood and not knowing who to trust. Ms. Charlene says it's best to show Willa some understanding and not make her feel bad about her "collecting problem" so I guess that means Ms. Charlene will continue to let Willa collect all the chew bones in her doghouse and then Ms. Charlene will take them all back out of the doghouse and put them back in the bowl once a week.
The rest of us are not really worried about the bones because we are all busy playing in the yard anyway. We think it is too nice to be sitting on the porch guarding all the chew bones.
The truth is that we watched Ms. Charlene hide a bunch of bones out behind the farmhouse because Willa doesn't get to far from her doghouse on the front porch and she will never know about those bones! LOL
Well Ms. Charlene told us this week that my book, "Stories from Black Dog Ranch" is finally listed on Barnes&Noble.com and she is pretty excited about that. We hope all of you out there that have not bought one of our books will visit their website and order a book soon. Of course you can always order your copy from our website too!
Well I better go for now. Talk more soon,
Mia

Stories From Black Dog Ranch - Mia and the Gang

Hi Everyone. It's me Mia.
I'm acting silly for Ms. Charlene in this picture...it is a cool summer morning and it just feels good to roll around in the grass. I mean isn't that what us dogs are suppose to do???
Well it has been a great week here at the ranch. It was Ms. Charlene's Birthday and anytime one of us has a birthday here at the ranch we all celebrate with lots of treats and activities.
Ms. Charlene said she loves us soooo much and is so thankful that we have each other it is a good enough reason to celebrate every day here at the ranch.
Maggie and Charlie did a little singing
for Ms. Charlene this week-end and we could hear it coming from inside the farmhouse so we all joined in and howled right along with them. Ms. Charlene laughed for a long time after all that howling stopped so I guess that was about as good as any Birthday Present we could have given her.
Well I better go for now. Talk more soon,

Stories From Black Dog Ranch: Mia and the Gang

Hi Everyone. It's me Mia.
Well it has been a busy week here at the ranch. We have a new horse and her name is Pockets.
I don't know why her owners named her that. We think Pockets is a really funny name. Me and my brothers and sisters have given her a good looking over and still cannot see anything that looks like a pocket on her. Ms. Charlene said it's not really important how we get our names, but what is important is that Pockets' family decided to bring her to the Black Dog Ranch because she wasn't getting enough grass where she lives. Ms. Charlene said Pockets will stay here from a few months and after she has gain some weight (like Cheif and Chance) she can go back to her own farm. Ms. Charlene said that is what it is all about anyway. Lending a helping hand to those in need. (Oh, the farmers next door moved the new colt so Ms. Charlene didn't get a picture of him).
Ms. Charlene says that we are a fine example of showing one another love and kindness. Just like Teddie and Molly in this picture. She also says if Everyone were more grateful for our blessings the world would be a better place!
This picture is the view from our front porch most every evening here at Black Dog Ranch. Amazing isn't it???
Well I guess I better go for now. Talk more soon.

Black Dog Ranch Stories: Mia and the Gang

Hi everyone. It's me Mia.
Well another busy week here at the ranch and summer continues to be good to us too. The weather hasn't gotten too hot so Ms. Charlene has been able to do some much needed work around the ranch.
She has been repairing fence and we have been following her around the ranch helping out. Well mainly just following her around and watching Ms. Charlene do all the work.
Ms. Charlene said she didn't mind because we helped her with a lot of other things like keeping snakes and moles out of the yard and Teddie keeps an eye on the place and warns Ms. Charlene when something or somebody comes up the lane.
The farm next to our ranch has horses too and one of their mares had a new baby colt this past week. It is soooo cute. Ms. Charlene tried to get close enough to get a picture to show everyone, but the new mother did not like anyone getting too close to her new baby. Ms. Charlene said she would wait until next week and then maybe she can get close enough for a picture of the new baby.
Well I guess I better go for now, gotta help Ms. Charlene with some more fence mending.
Talk more soon,
Mia

Stories From Black Dog Ranch - Mia and the Gang

Hi everyone. It's me Mia.
Boy this has been a very eventful week here at the Black Dog Ranch. The weather has been really nice lately so we have been busy finding stuff to do around the farm.
Betty found a snake in the yard!!! It was already dead when Ms. Charlene found Betty playing with it, but she screamed really loud anyway. None of us were scared of the snake and we actually thought it was kind of fun to chase it around the yard, but when Ms. Charlene started screaming and jumping around we ran and got on the front porch.
Betty said she was worried that Ms. Charlene may have finally lost it after all the things we put her through....
Well after Ms. Charlene stopped jumping around she got a shovel and threw the snake over the fence.
Afterwards she sat on the front porch with us and told us that we were very good dogs to keep snakes away from the house. Who would have figured after all that excitement with the snake we would come out looking like heroes???
I guess once again it just proves what it means to be loved and be a family.
Teddie stayed really close to Ms. Charlene the rest of the afternoon though, he said he thought it was best in case Ms. Charlene had another one of those spells he wanted to make sure she was alright.
Well Ms. Charlene sent my book to a literary agent and they want to work with her on my book, Stories from Black Dog Ranch. She hopes it will be a way of getting it out to more kids out there so they can learn about me and all of us here at the ranch so wish us luck with that!
I guess I better go for now, talk more soon,
Mia
