Black Dog Ranch - Mia and the Gang

Hi everyone. It's me Mia.
I'm sitting on my favorite bench on the front porch taking it easy. It has been a very busy week here at the ranch. Ms. Charlene has a new job besides taking care of all of us. She is going to sell insurance and has to study for a test. Boy I sure am glad we don't have to study for test too. I remember how hard it was for me to learn how to walk on a lease and ride in the truck.
Ms. Charlene says it is good for all of us to learn new things. I'm not sure I understand why so I'll just sit here and enjoy the view because I do know how lucky we are to have such a great place to live!
Sugar is still getting use to the farm and Ms. Charlene is getting used to Sugar. Ms. Charlene said Sugar is VERY hyper and frisky and she will need a lot more training before she can compare to the trail horse that Precious has been over the years. Ms. Charlene said she will at least give her a chance and spend extra time working with her.
Well don't forget to order a copy of my book, "Stories from Black Dog Ranch" or tell a friend about it. You can order it on my website; http://www.blackdogrescueranch.com/ or go to barnesandnoble.com
I better go for now. Talk more soon,
Mia

Black Dog Ranch - Mia and the Gang

Hi everyone. It's me Mia.
Well another week has gone by here at the ranch and all of us are feeling pretty frisky lately. The weather has really cooled down and being true farm dogs we love cool weather! It is a great time to play and wrestle around with each other without getting all hot and slobbery.
Ms. Charlene took our new horse, "Sugar" on a trial ride this week-end and she said she did pretty good. She said Sugar is going to be a handful once she gets to feeling good again. Ms. Charlene bought her from a man that deals in a lot of horses and just like kids that go to school where there are a lot of other kids someone is always going to have a cold or something and Ms. Charlene says that Sugar has a cough and a rash on her skin she probably picked up from one of those other horses. Ms. Charlene called the Vet and got some medicine so hopefully Sugar will be back to being good as new before long.
Well as always don't forget to pick up a copy of my book, "Stories from Black Dog Ranch" or if you already have a copy be sure and tell one of your friends!
I guess I better go for now. Talk more Soon,
Mia

Black Dog Ranch - Mia and the Gang

Hi everyone. It's me Mia. Betty and I are standing here with Ms. Marie and her grandson Oakley. They came out to the ranch today to play with Ms. Charlene's new horse, "Sugar". She is a beautiful Blue Roan Tennessee Walking Horse. Ms. Charlene is going to use Sugar as her new trail horse because Precious is getting older and Ms. Charlene says since she has been such an awesome horse all these years she deserves to just take it easy her on the farm. After Ms. Marie, Oakley and Ms. Charlene spent some time with Sugar and the other horses they went to Ms. Charlene's Mom & Dad's Farm and picked pumpkins. It was a great fall day and this last picture shows you just how Blessed we feel here at the Black Dog Ranch! Well don't forget to order your copy of my book if you haven't already; http://www.blackdogrescueranch.com/ Talk more soon, Mia

Black Dog Ranch - Mia and the Gang

Hi Everyone. It's me Mia. Well another week here at the ranch and things have been going great. We got to see a real live coyote the other morning. There were two of them out in our pasture very early that morning just checking things out and Teddie went crazy because he couldn't get out of the fence and chase after them. I think they knew Teddie couldn't get out so they kind of hung out for a while teasing him until Ms. Charlene heard all the barking going on and came outside. They sure did take off after that. Ms. Charlene told Teddie that coyotes are wild and he might get hurt by one of them. Teddie and Mickey decided it was more fun just to hang out on the porch and play than to take a chance and maybe get hurt by one of those coyotes. Precious got a new pair of boots this week too. They look funny on her feet, but Ms. Charlene said they will help protect her feet from getting sore when she walks on rocks. Precious has foundered feet and she requires special care. Ms. Charlene loves her soooo much she bought her some special horses boots that will make her feel much better! Ms. Charlene has some school presentations coming up in the next week so be sure and check out our comments page on the website for up coming events. Ms. Charlene loves to talk to all those wonderful children about my book and all of us here at the ranch. Well I guess I better go for now. Talk more soon, Mia

Black Dog Ranch - Mia and the Gang

Hi Everyone, it's me Mia. Mickey and I are smiling for Ms. Charlene while she takes our picture here. Mickey always goes overboard though, he thinks he is soooo cute! Good grief, boys are so silly. Well it has been a busy week here at the ranch. The weather has been staying cool so Ms. Charlene has been doing a lot of work around the farm. She painted the board fence down by the gate this week while we all kept an eye on the place. Ms. Charlene told us all how lucky she was to have such good watch dogs at the ranch, but the truth is we really don't do to much work around here. Most of the time we just eat, sleep, and play. The horses have been running and playing a lot more lately because the evenings are getting cooler. We like to chase them from inside our fence. Ms. Charlene won't let us go out in the pasture because we might get kicked by one of the horses so we just chase after them inside the safety of our fence. Ms. Charlene's Book Signing this past week-end at the Oasis Bookstore went well and she is looking forward to going to more schools this fall and telling all those great kids about us here at the ranch. Be sure and check out our comments page for future dates of up coming events. Well I better go for now. Talk more soon, Mia

Black Dog Rescue Ranch - Mia and the Gang

Hi everyone, it's me Mia.
Well another week has gone by here at the ranch and we are all doing great. It has been beautiful weather so we have been spending a lot of time in the yard rolling around in the cool grass.
Ms. Charlene took some funny pictures of the horses this week and she wanted me to share them with you. As you all know Precious is Ms. Charlene's special horse, but she cannot be out in the pasture in the summer because she eats too much grass and it is not good for her feet! I'm not sure what that means exactly, but I know Ms. Charlene always does what is best for all of us here at the ranch. Anyway, one of the other horses, "Pockets" likes to visit with Precious up at the barn and this week Ms. Charlene took these pictures of that visit. Here Pockets is stopping by to say hello to Precious. Afterwards Precious came over to the gate and told Ms. Charlene that she thought Pockets had been eating "stink weeds" and maybe Ms. Charlene should give Pockets some of those mint flavored horse treats! We all thought this face Precious was making was sooooo funny and Ms. Charlene did too!
There is always something funny going on here at the ranch and Ms. Charlene says we all have a lot to be thankful for around here. She says laughter is good medicine for lots of things so remember to laugh at the funny things in life!
Well I better go for now, don't forget to order a copy of my book, "Stories from Black Dog Ranch" from the barnesandnoble.com website or my website blackdogrescueranch.com

Black Dog Rescue Ranch - Mia & the Gang

Hi everyone. It's me Mia.
Well it has been another great week here at the ranch and Molly and I have been sitting here on the picnic table today watching Ms. Charlene go in and out of the gate in her truck. She is hauling more hay up to the barn for the horses.
We wanted to help, but really we wanted to chase the horses so Ms. Charlene made us stay at the house while she unloaded the hay.
We played in the yard while Ms. Charlene did all the work. She said she didn't mind because she loves to see us playing and having a good time. Ms. Charlene says when we are happy she is happy.
We know the horses feel pretty lucky to have Ms. Charlene because everytime she is outside they run up to the fence to say hello.
Ms. Charlene says it is that time of year again when all the great kids are back in school and she is going to be visiting again this fall and sharing stories about our book and the ranch. Be sure and check our schedule on the comments page and remember if your school would like to schedule a visit with Ms. Charlene you can contact her through our contact page on our website; www.blackdogrescueranch.com because Ms. Charlene says that school visits are her favorite thing to do! She loves talking to all those wonderful kids about my book and all of us back here at the ranch!!! Well I better go for now.
