Hello from Mia and The Black Dog Ranch Bunch

Hi everyone it's me Mia, I'm standing on Ms. Charlene's leg and she is giving me good scratching in this picture. I love her soooo much. Well things have been pretty routine here at the ranch this week. Ms. Charlene puts these really big round bales of hay out for our horse brothers and sisters and Teddie, Betty, Mickey, Molly, Willa and myself have discovered recently that it is a really cool place to jump up on and then lay around in all that loose hay. The horses don't like us bothering their hay so they try to chase us off and then the real chase is on! Ms. Charlene had a talk with Teddie because he is our leader here at the ranch and she told him that it wasn't a good idea for all of us to be chasing the horses. She told Teddie that one of us could get kicked or stepped on and she didn't want any of us to get hurt. Ms. Charlene loves Teddie a lot so she didn't really yell at him, but he listened to everything she was saying!

I think Mickey still wanted to go out to the pasture and jump on that hay even after Teddie told us not to do it.......Mickey said it was kind of hard to resist being a true ranch dog and all, but he ended up staying right there on the porch. We have a new friend, JACK. Ms. Charlene said he lives in Iowa and he has my book, "Stories from Black Dog Ranch". Ms. Charlene said that Jack's Mother wrote her a letter and she told Ms. Charlene that Jack really likes us and wants to come down to the ranch this summer and meet all of us. We think that is soooo cool. We love kids and we can't wait to meet Jack and give him a ton of kisses! Talk more soon, Mia

Hello from Mia and Black Dog Ranch

Hi everyone, I guess you are wondering why my nose is soooo dirty. Well this past week Ms. Charlene thought all of us would really like a big beef bone and boy was she right! Me and my brothers and sisters chewed on those bones practically all day yesterday and then it dawn on me that if I didn't hide mine at some point Teddie or Mickey was going to take it. So I spent a good deal of time finding just the right spot on the ranch to bury my bone. I found a perfect spot and I'm sure that nobody is going to find it now. Of course Ms. Charlene spotted the place I dug up and bury my bone and I don't think she was real happy with me digging a huge hole in the front yard.....Ms. Charlene loves me more than anything though, thank goodness, so she just laughed at my dirty nose and said she guessed that there are bigger things in life to get all worked up over and it was only dirt anyway.

We spent the rest of our time this past week laying around in the backyard. Teddie kept an eye on the ranch while we soaked up some sunshine. We are sure grateful he keeps an eye on things too because the rest of us got really sleepy laying there in the sun! Talk more soon, Mia

Hi everyone, it's me Mia, well I went to dog school this past week and it really wasn't all that scary. Ms. Charlene put me in the truck (that part I didn't like at all) and we went to town where the teacher lived. He was a nice man and he kept trying to get me to eat chicken treats, but I wasn't having any of it. I don't think he realizes that Ms. Charlene gives us lots of treats back at the ranch and being a smart dog I don't take treats from strangers. He also didn't realize that I love Ms. Charlene soooo much that all she had to do was ask me to walk with her on my new leash and I would do it without treats. Maybe the teacher needs a lesson in the power of love, huh? Ms. Charlene and the treacher talked for a long time while I just kind of walked around smelling everything. There was lots of other dog smells there. After a long time we finally got back into the truck and went home. Ms. Charlene talked to me on our way home and she said that we would work things out ourselves, I was much to smart to have a stranger train me and it should be something between us anyway. I think that is a good idea. p.s. After we got back into the truck Ms. Charlene gave me all of those chicken treats and I ate everyone of them!

Mia

Hello From Mia and the Gang

Well another week has gone by and we are all doing fine here at the ranch. I heard Ms. Charlene talking to a nice lady the other day about sending me to dog school. She's suppose to teach me how to go for rides in the truck and not be so nervous. Well that makes me nervous. I just don't think I need to go to dog school so I told Teddie that maybe he should do it instead of me. Ms. Charlene thought that was such a good idea that now Teddie and I both have to go to dog school. Teddie is mad at me for getting him into this whole dog school thing. Ms. Charlene said that everyone she meets at the book signings want to meet us and I really would love to meet all of those wonderful people and give them a big kiss right in the lips, but I just wish the truck wasn't so scary. I'm a good farm dog though, I caught a mole this week and took it up to the front porch for Ms. Charlene to see. She sure did jump around a lot and when she finally was able to catch her breath and scream really loud we all took off to the barn! I guess Ms. Charlene didn't think the mole was as cool as my brothers and sisters did...... Talk more soon, Mia

Hello From Mia and the Black Dog Ranch Gang

Hi Everyone, wow it has been a very busy week! Ms. Charlene said the TV interview with Jennifer Blome from KSDK Channel 5 went great (Jennifer is awesome cause she loves dogs too!) and the book signing on Saturday went great. Ms. Charlene said she got to meet lots of really nice people and talk to them about their own wonderful pets. Ms. Charlene also got to talk to the wonderful people at Animal Talk Naturally Radio, Dr. Jeannie Thomason and Dr. Kim Bloomer today. They are veterinarians (I'm kind of afraid of doctors, it makes my ears tremble when I have to go see them), but Ms. Charlene assured me that Dr. Kim and Dr. Jeannie are very nice and care a great deal about all of us and our well being. If you get a chance, go check out their website and in the near future we will have some of their shows on our website for all of you animal lovers out there to purchase. Also, I have kind of a boyfriend now, his name is Hudson and he is a really handsome Boxer. He has his own website too and I want you all to go check it out. http://hudson-imkindofabigdeal.blogspot.com His Mom is a huge supporter of all the rescue dogs out there so stop by and tell them how much you appreciate their efforts! Well I better go for now, talk more soon, Mia
